Despite a vicious campaign by the UK’s powerful Jewry former London Mayor Ken Livingstone has refused to back down on his recent claim that Hitler was a Zionist.
On Tuesday, appearing before the British House of Commons Home Affairs Select Committee, Livingstone refused to apologize for his comments made in April and said he stood by them. However, he insisted that he never said that “Hitler was a Zionist”, but it’s a historic fact that Hitler did help Zionist groups in forcing Jews to settle in Palestine. In plain English that also means Hitler and Nazi leaders, such as Adolf Eichmann were committed Zionists.
Ken Livingstone, who served as Mayor of London from 2000 to 2008, also said that it was not the first time he is accused of being ‘antisemite’, as every time he criticized Israel or welcome foreign Islamic religious leaders he was accused of antisemitism.
Ken Livingstone said that his character assassination is part of a plot hatched by British lawmakers to undermine the leadership of moderate Jeremy Corbyn.
Livingstone was suspended from the Labour party in April after he said during a radio interview: “Let’s remember, when Hitler won his election in 1932, his policy then was that Jews should be moved to Palestine. He was supporting Zionism – this before he went mad and ended up killing six million Jews.”
I’m surprised Livingstone believes in Zionist narrative of Holocaust, which David Cole, an American anti-Muslim Zionist writer and political activist, claims based on fakes, frauds, and forgeries (here, here).
Ken Livingstone insisted he was right to say Hitler had, at one point, supported Zionism as a way of getting rid of Jewish people from Germany. He repeatedly told the cross-party committee he had been approached in the street by Jews agreeing with his comments. In a written statement to the committee, he said: “I detest racism and condemn anti-Semitism. Indeed my political career has totally opposed any such views concerning any religious or ethnic group.”
However, like the ‘dog’s bent tail in a jar’, the president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews and vice-president of the World Jewish Congress, Jonathan Arkush, sticked to his old Zionist mantra and told the same committee that Livingstone’s statements had been “deliberately offensive and purposely provocative.” As they say: “truth is always bitter Moshe.”
Canadian Jewish academic Henry Makow, PhD, posted on April 30, 2016: “Zionism, Communism and Judaism are synonymous with a mind and soul crushing tyranny called the New World Order. The treatment of Ken Livingstone and others is proof. In fact Zionists and Nazis worked hand-in-hand, as The Transfer Agreement by Jewish author Edward Black documents.”
Israeli academic Yeshayahu Leibowitz said: “Everything Israel has done since 1967 is either evil stupidity or stupidly evil.” He referred to the Israeli army as Judeo-Nazi.
