West Indies wins T20 Cricket Asia Cup in India by defeating India, England and the last year champion Australia. Not a single Indian cricket fan in the packed Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium applauded the team that performed brilliantly and defeated the host team – showing that Indian fans even lack the basic ethics of sportsmanship blinded by their Hidutva racism.
A poll conducted by the Outlook India magazine shows that “54% of people in India treat cricket like religion. So much of national pride is attached to it that people have stopped appreciating a good game. All they care about is winning.”
Nothing new for the people of neighboring Pakistan. Pakistan’s cricket team had avoided playing in international cricket matches in India due to threats from Hindu racist groups (BJP, RSS, etc.). Pakistan’s matches, for this event, were also moved from Mumbai to Cuttack following threats from Hindu extremist organizations.
Several foreign leading cricket teams have avoided playing in Pakistan since 2009 deadly India’s RAW terrorist attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, Pakistan.
Naturally, the people who have been fighting the racist government in New Delhi for decades, celebrated West Indies stunning victory over India.
Yasir Altaf Zargar, a Kashmiri web security analyst and writer describes the reaction of oppressed people of Kashmir Valley by saying: “The defeat of India by the hands of West Indies brought disappointment to many Indian fans, but in Kashmir the situation remained different.”
Why? “Because Kashmir Valley is an internationally recognised a disputed nation. Due to the harsh behaviour of Indian governance towards the people of Kashmir, Kashmiri’s have never supported India in any game or in any event. The people of Kashmir are likely to support any other nation that will be playing against India. It is because of Indian oppression against the people of Kashmir, that it failed to win hearts of people and the effects are now obviously visible to everyone. The people of Kashmir always like to enjoy India’s loss whether it is cricket or hockey. There is also a fact that Pakistan enjoys unconditional support from people of Kashmir that is why people of Kashmir went to each stadium where Pakistan played the 2016 t-20 world cup. The social media in Kashmir circulated the post images which were taken by Kashmiri supporters with Pakistani players. Some videos showed the aggression of Pak supporters from Kashmir, that’s how they were singing paeans to praise the players of Pakistan. Unfortunately everything brought disappointment when Pakistan lost the match that was being played between Pakistan and India. Pakistan didn’t qualify for semi-finals but India did, the performance by Virat Kohli helped team India in entering the semi-finals of 2016 t-20 world cup. The brilliant performance by Kohli didn’t help his team in defeating the West Indies that India failed to qualify semi-finals. The situation in Kashmir turned in celebration when Russell slapped the ball out of the stadium which helped his team in entering the finals of t-20 world cup 2016 by defeating India in their home ground,” Zargar said.
Brain Lara, 46, former captain of West Indies cricket team is reportedly converted to Islam in 2013.
