On December 29, Iran’s foreign ministry director-general Hamid Baeedinejad announced that Iran has sold nine ton of its enriched uranium to Russia in exchange for 140 ton of uranium ore also known as Yellow Cake. Half of world’s uranium ore comes from Canada, Australia, Niger, Kazakhstan, Russia and Namibia.
The exchange took place as part of the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed between P5+1 and Iran, and after the transfer was approved by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatullah Ali Khamenei.
Islamic Republic and the five UNSC veto powers (US, UK, France, Russia, China) and Germany held several rounds of talks in Geneva, Lausanne and Vienna before striking a final agreement in Vienna on July 14 to end a 13-year-old nuclear standoff. After the agreement, the UN Security Council unanimously endorsed a draft resolution turning it into international law the JCPOA reached between Iran and the P5+1 over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.
The Zionist-controlled IAEA estimates that Iran has a total inventory of low-enriched uranium equivalent to 12.64 tons of 3.5% uranium hexafluoride. Of this, 8.3 ton is in the form of 3.5% enriched uranium hexafluoride with the remainder in various chemical forms at Isfahan EUPP.
In September 2015, US vice-president Joe Biden (his son-in-law and daughter-in-law are both Jewish) said that the US has no problem with a nuclear Iran, but its nuclear conflict with Iran to fulfill Netanyahu’s wish of a regime change in Tehran.
American history professor and author Walter L. Hixson (University of Akron) says the reason Netanyahu accuses Iran as an “existential threat” to Israel “reflects an internalization of Israel’s own history of mendacity in rejecting non-proliferation in order to develop nuclear weapons and present the world with a fait accompli. The double standard of US acquiescence to myriad examples of Israeli aggression and violations of international law is lost on most Americans because of their religious and cultural affinity for Israel, as well as deep pockets of the Israel Lobby. The double standard are not, however, lost on Arabs, or Persian for that matter” (here).
