After John Kerry’s recent visit to Israel (Ha’aretz, November 27) senior officials from Israel Occupation Force (IOF) and internal security Shin Bet warned the Zionist regime’s national security team that their Palestinian Gandhi ruled Palestinian Authority (PA) is about to collapse soon.
In the wake of the above mentioned warning, Congressman, Jim McGovern, a long-time and steadfast supporter of Israel has the right to exist myth, called on Netanyahu to start talking to Gaza ruling Islamic resistance Hamas in order to revive the so-called two-state solution.
Jim McGovern, a Democrat who co-chairs the influential Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission – named after Jewish Rep. Tom Lantos (d. 2008). He was in London last week to receive an accolade at the Sergei Magnitsky Human Rights Awards – said he is a staunch supporter of Israel and supports the US-Iran nuclear agreement because it would be good for Israel in long-term.
The Sergei Magnitsky award is named after Russian Jewish accountant who died in a Russian jail on tax evasion on behalf of one of his clients, Hermitage Capital under suspicious circumstances. The Hermitage Capital was founded by a Sephardi Jewish couple, William Browder and Edmond Safra. The organization has built several schools, hospitals and synagogues in Israel (here).
During his stay in London, Jim McGovern was interviewed by Israeli mouthpiece, Jewish Chronicle – published on November 27.
“I understand the security concerns, but I also believe that ultimately, the way forward in Israel is for there to be real negotiations with the Palestinians — a two-state solution. People need to learn to live with each other — that’s the solution all over the world,” McGovern said.
When asked does that include Hamas? McGovern replied: “I don’t need to negotiate with my friends. I need to negotiate with the people I consider my adversaries and my enemies.”
He also criticized Israel’s human rights abuses and warned such actions are isolating Israel from the international community. “I think Israel does not have a perfect human rights record. I think the settlement policies are very troublesome,” he said.
McGovern who boycotted Netanyahu’s March 2015 speech, said: “Netanyahu came and offered no alternatives. For a lot of us, myself included, who are supporters of Israel, were taken aback by the speech.”
The JC missed to mention that Jim McGovern along with Hollywood actor George Clooney and several rabbis was arrested in Washington on March 16, 2012. He was protesting in front of Sudanese Embassy in favor of break-up of the African country for Israel’s interests in the region.
