Richard Cohen, president Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLA), Jewish Lobby groups (B’nai B’rith, ADL, etc.) and several rabbis have slammed Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore for defying the US Supreme Court’s ‘landmark’ decision – calling same-sex marriage being kosher.
Moore has recently made headlines for criticizing and comparing the US Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage with the new Jewish religion, Holocaust. I bet, Moore had been reading too many ‘Global anti-Semitism reports’, prepared by Israel lobby group, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
Rabbi Steven Jacobs of temple Emanu-El in Tuscaloosa said: “As a scholar of both Holocaust and other ‘genocides’ (not of Palestinians, of course) I am appalled by this false analogy. Judge Moore should know better.”
The Alabama Holocaust Commission which sponsors Holocaust studies at state’s public schools, have urged the state to make Holocaust studies mandatory at law schools also.
Rabbi Elizabeth Bahar of temple B’nai Sholom in Huntsville said that Judge Moore’s comments show his lack of understanding of Jewish victimization.
On June 29, 2015, Chief Justice Roy Moore prohibited state probate judges to issue marriage license to gay and lesbian couples for a period of 25-day, allowing the US Supreme Court to revert its ‘un-Christian’ ruling.
I don’t know which Bible Roy Moore follows – but on July 12, 2015, the anti-abortion Christian group, Operation Save America, national director Rev. Rusty Thomas presented Moore with the group’s prestigious Godly Statesman Award.
“You’ve got a good man,” Thomas said as a message to the state of Alabama. “He’s personable, knowledgeable, and he sees things through a biblical, historical grid.”
During an hour-long keynote address at OSA’s week-long ‘national event’, in Montgomery, Justice Moore stuck to his convictions against same-sex marriage.
“I don’t hate homosexuals,” Moore said before an audience of OSA followers and church goers. “Christians are commanded to love homosexuals. What do you do to someone you love? You tell them the truth.”
I bet Moore was referring to Jesus and St. Paul (Saul), the true founder of Christian religion, being bachelors till both were killed by Pharisees.
