On August 21, 2012 – Israeli daily Ha’aretz published Bradley Burston’s column, entitled ‘Islamophobia, not Islam, will be the end of Israel’.” Israel has elaborate defense systems against military attack and terrorism, its defense against its own extremists are much more porous. The (Jewish Pamela) Gellers and Kahanists attack Israel at the root. An Israel torn apart from within doesn’t need an external enemy to destroy it. The enemy is right here,” wrote Burston.
US-born Jewish Bradley Burston was educated at UC Berkeley. He took Israeli citizenship and residency after graduation. He served in the Jewish army as a combat medic. Currently, he is a senior editor of daily Ha’aretz. He writes on his blog at the newspaper.
However, American anti-Muslim and racist culture is full of bigots like Pamela, Spencer, Horowitz, Foxman, Gaffney, Bachmann and Joe Lieberman. A recent poll taken by the Arab American Institute shows that Muslims are the only community with a net unfavorable (41%) rating. Even Arabs and Sikhs did better than Muslims. Presbyterians have the least unfavoable rating (8%) followed by Jews (11%).
Interestingly, FBI database from 1980 to 2005 shows American Muslims are least involved in terrorist activities (6%) than Jews (7%) or Latinos (42%).
In 2001, Russian-Israeli journalist Israel Shamir wrote: “Israel is doomed. She is disgusting to the Arabs, the French, the English, even to herself. The red-hot intifada is the fiery river, into which melts and sinks to the bottom another myth of the 20th century — the theory of Zionism. According to designs of Herzl and Jabotinsky, a small geopolitical monstrosity was created on Arab lands. Its settlers have imposed on America and Germany the annual tribute of five billions dollars. They pour napalm on the mosques and transform whole nations into homeless refugees. They brainwash the whole world by their ‘ashes of Auschwitz’.”
Early this month, San Francisco’s Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA) put a political ads paid by Pamela Geller’s pro-Israel American Freedom Defense Initiative group. The ad reads: “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat jihad“. Commenting on Geller’s ad, Mark Matthews wrote on August 10, 2012
“The truth being in the eye of the beholder, ABC7 News showed the ad to Muslim’s going into Friday prayers at a San Francisco mosque. Adam Kennard called it propaganda. Ted Oriqat pointed out that the ad distorts the meaning of jihad. “Jihad, it doesn’t mean killing people or anything like that,” he said. And Oriqat is correct. Jihad means “struggle” and is frequently used as in “striving towards the way of God”.
Frank Giffney, recently equated Jewish human rights group SPLC with White supremacist group KKK.
Rep. Michele Bachmann, produced some waves when she claimed that Hillary Clinton’s aide Dr. Huma Abedin was an ‘Islamists’ agent’.
