Not the parent Arabic channel which has failed to receive a licence in Canada since 2003 – for its projection of Arab and Muslim world’s views on Israel. This is because of strong opposition from the Canadian Jewish Congress (CJC) and B’nai Brith and other Zionist groups who consider even a slight critism of Zionist entity as ‘anti-Semitism’ – to which country’s prime minister Stephen Harper agrees too!
Canada’s Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has agreed to approve a licence for Al-Jazeera English to broadcast in Canada. Why? Because, Bernie Farber, CEO of Canadian Jewish Congress was assured by Slava Levin, president and CEO of Ethnic Channels Group Ltd. that his company “carefully scrutinize” the network’s contents (not acceptable to Israel) before agreeing to act as sponsor.
Tony Burman, the managing editor of Al-Jazeera English, based in Doha (Qatar) also has assured Farber that a liason committee would be formed to respond quickly to CJC’s objection raised about the broadcasted material.
Al-Jazeera English is known for the least contents concerning the Zionist regime and the Palestinian resistance. The Toronto Star reported Bernie Farber as saying: “Much of what I’ve seen of Al-Jazeera English is not a problem. As a matter of fact, their real concentration, interestingly enough, has been on the north-south divide as opposed to the Middle East. That’s good. I think that’s the kind of work they should do because it’s an area that is not focused on here in North america……Al-Jazeera Arabic, on the other hand, continues to this very day to broadcast some very, very problematic programs that would never see the light of day here in Canada because of CRTC regulations.”
Several Islamophobes hold high and sensitive positions in Al-Jazeera International (AJI). The list includes Avi Lewis, Vince Ryan, Russell Maryman, Dave Marash and his wife Amy Marash and many more.
“I wish all Arab media were like Al-Jazeera,” – Gideon Ezra, former deputy head of Israeli General Security Service, quoted in ‘Foreign Policy (FP)’, July/August 2006 issue.
“And now you know… the rest of the story!”
